UK COVID Virulence

The charts on this page show mortality and hospitalisation, as a function of the number of active SARS-CoV-2 infections in the UK.

We also show mortality as a percentage of hospitalised COVID patients, with the SARS-CoV-2 prevalence according to the ZOE COVID Symptom Study.

These charts though not a direct measure of virulence, give an indirect indication of how deleterious current SARS-CoV-2 infection is in the UK, compared to the past. This gives us a feel for relative virulence of the SARS-CoV-2, taking into account mitigating factors such as vaccination, social distancing, mask wearing and so forth.
